Abstract

The proposed paper presents an application of digital image processing for detection of defective Pharmaceutical capsules. In any manufactured environment, methods of quality control are essential for identifying defective products, resulting in the marketable advantage of guaranteeing product superiority. Early detection of defects in the production means lower costs and faster feedback on the production line in order to eliminate the causes of defects, overcomes physical limitations and subjective judgment of humans. In pharmaceutical industry, zero defect quality products are highly required in competitive markets. An Algorithm has been developed for complete defect detection of capsules including scratches, holes, dents and double caps.
