Abstract

This paper provides incumbent wireless internet service provider(WISP),new broadband technology, demanding new markets(such as government & education) with a technical analysis as a alternatives for implementing last mile wireless broadband services with 802.16. A new technology that solves many of the difficulties in last mile implementations. It describes WiMax as deployment solution scenarios & their merits, including their challenges are also described.Wimax offers a number of technique that can improve its performance, ie throughput ,capacity, coverage or range, indoor penetration. Some of these techniques are adaptive modulation and coding, uplink subchannalisation (using OFDMA), hybrid automatic repeat request(harq), Forward Error correction(FEC),and smart antenna technologies. They can improve performance by improving spectral efficiency or signal strength(SNR).
