Abstract

A new kind of double short strip and single-side micro strip type antenna architecture to develop a frequency reconfigurable annular slot antenna. The design and characterization of this "reconfigurable antenna (RA) annular slot" which was built on a microwave laminate TMM10i Rogers (permittivity=9. 8, loss tangent=0. 002), are presented in this paper. By increasing and decreasing the length of ground micro strip feeding line strategically located within the antenna geometry the operating frequency band is changed. The RA annular slot has two reconfigurable frequencies of operation with center frequencies fhigh=6. 733GHz, flow=3. 0GHz compatible with F and H band standards. The S11 and VSWR characteristics of the antenna along with the RF performance are presented and discussed.
