A.Jenifus Selvarani, P.Arul Selvam . Study of Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. International Conference on VLSI, Communication & Instrumentation. ICVCI, 4 (None 2011), 22-26.
Group-oriented services are one of the primary application classes that are addressed by Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) in recent years. To support such services, multicast routing is used. Thus, there is a need to design stable and reliable multicast routing protocols for MANETs to ensure better packet delivery ratio, lower delays and reduced overheads. In recent years several multicast routing protocols have been designed. Though these protocols are used for the same purpose, each protocol varies according to the design principles, working environment, functionality etc. In this paper we have made a study about some routing protocols and have given a detailed summary about those protocols. We have also compared those protocols using some features and performance metrics.
