Abstract

Internet traffic is carried by transmission media which displays many different characteristics like band width asymmetry, long delay during transmission, errors in data, buffering problems, collision of transmitted data and related problems. These may lead to degeneration of performance in Transmission Control protocol (TCP). Most of the works focused in any particular network type. In this paper, we compare performance of TCP in different characteristics of medium of transmission. The study intended to identify different transmission problems in the Internet. This study also aims to split up and identify restrictions of present solutions,so that it can direct for an improved, modified and better solution.
