Steffi Selvaraj, K.yasoda . Optimization and Closed Loop Control of Soft Switched Boost Converter with Flyback Snubber. International Conference on Innovations In Intelligent Instrumentation, Optimization and Electrical Sciences. ICIIIOES, 8 (December 2013), 26-33.
This paper presents a boost converter with flyback snubber which makes use of soft switching features, such as Zero Voltage Switching and Zero Current Switching. Initially, a conventional boost converter has been simulated and its output is compared with that of the proposed converter. It has been found that the switching loss of the boost converter with flyback snubber is much reduced in comparison to that of the conventional converter due to the implementation of soft switching features. Generally, closed loop control system is an important section in many process control stations. But the use of conventional converters gives poor performance in terms of peak overshoot, rise time and settling time. For a closed loop system having a PI controller and the proposed converter, the response obtained has less settling time and rise time but contains peak overshoot. So, to reduce the peak overshoot the gain values of the PI controller are first optimized using genetic algorithm.
