Abstract

The demand of storage space for data in various fields is an ever growing issue. So is the need for backup. Mass storage and reliability of the cloud system do offer a solution for this. Cloud computing is a buzzword and umbrella term applied to several nascent trends in the turbulent landscape of information technology. As an emerging technology and business paradigm cloud computing has taken commercial computing by storm. This article covers the key technologies in cloud storage. It also gives a brief idea about traditional RAID technology. It also looks into the significance of migrating to the cloud for better data resiliency during disasters for restoring services. This paper mainly deals with the implementation of the traditional RAID architecture in a cloud environment. We also look into the latest variations of RAID technology which is easily adaptable to the cloud environment.
