Abstract

Now a days, more and more ornaments and decorative deigns are taking shape of aesthetically appealing patterns. The global competition and the continuous demand for novelty in ornamental patterns have slowed down the growth of market of decorative products. This work is towards the generation of new ornamental patterns for Jewellery designing. This paper proposes a fractal geometry technique to design self-similar patterns for Jewellery items. The parameterized self-similar fractal curves at different levels are proposed in this work to be used as an ornamental pattern for engraving on flat surface of wooden doors and windows. The patterns are engraved on the surface using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling or laser cutting. A fractal is a geometric shape that is complex and detailed in structure at any level of magnification and it may be used to generate beautiful engravings on wooden structures & Jewellery items.
